What Does a Typical Creativity Coaching Session Look with Renata
Have you ever wondered what it’s actually like to be in a creativity coaching session with me? Maybe you've been curious, but unsure of what to expect. Maybe the idea of showing up to make art—especially in front of someone else—feels a little scary or vulnerable. I totally get it and there’s no shame in that.
That’s why I wanted to pull back the curtain and give you a behind-the-scenes look at what a typical session with me really looks like. Because when you're neurodivergent, sensitive, and deeply feeling, not knowing can feel like a major barrier to even getting started.
In this post, I’m walking you through exactly how I guide my clients—gently, intentionally, and with so much care—through creative sessions that are designed to help you reconnect with yourself in a way that feels safe and nourishing. We’ll explore the flow of a session from start to finish, and I’ll share why this process is so transformative (even if you don’t consider yourself “creative”).
If you’ve been longing for a space to just be yourself, create freely, and feel truly seen—this one’s for you.
Let’s dive in.

Settling In: We Start Slow (On Purpose)
We begin each session by simply landing in the space together. That might mean a little small talk, a casual check-in, or just taking a breath to transition out of the day’s hustle.
Then we ease into a creative warm-up. This might include gentle movement (like shaking out the hands or a little stretch), a brief visualization to help us shift gears, and a simple mark-making or doodling activity to break through the fear of the blank page. This warm-up is like a signal to your brain and body: Hey, it’s safe to create here.
The Heart of the Session: Creative Exploration
Next comes the main art activity. This is where the magic starts to unfold—and where I often see some nerves bubble up, especially with new clients.
Totally normal.
If you’re someone who hasn’t connected with your creativity in a while (or ever), it’s easy to feel a little unsure or worried about “doing it right.” But here’s the thing: this space is not about creating perfect art. It’s about tuning in to what’s happening inside as you create. The sensations in your body, the emotions that arise, the thoughts that float in.
This is your time to explore. I’ll offer a gentle prompt to help you get started, but there’s no pressure to follow any specific format. You get to respond however feels most true to you.
After creating, we’ll take a short break—time to stretch, grab some water, and let everything settle before we move into reflection.
Reflection + Meaning Making: Your Art Has Something to Say
This is my favorite part.
We spend the last portion of our session reflecting on your experience—what came up for you, what surprised you, and what your artwork might be revealing.
And just to be clear: I won’t be interpreting your artwork for you. That’s not my role. I’m here to gently guide you into your meaning-making process. Because when you discover what your art is trying to tell you, that’s where the real growth and healing begin.
Everyone’s discoveries are unique, because you are unique. Your lived experiences, your dreams, your inner world—they all shape the way you create and the insights you uncover.
Before we wrap up, I’ll invite you to reflect on key takeaways to hold onto throughout the week. You’ll also have the option to upload a photo of your artwork to your private client portal—this becomes a beautiful visual archive of your journey that we revisit later in our time together.
And if I think a specific resource could support what you’re working through, I’ll add that to your portal, too—because your growth doesn’t end when the session does.
Why This Process Matters (Especially for Us)
As someone who is neurodivergent and deeply feeling myself, I know how important it is to feel safe, supported, and not judged in intimate spaces like this. That’s why I’m so intentional about the way I guide our sessions—gently, thoughtfully, and with full presence.
You don’t have to perform or prove anything here.
You don’t need to have any experience making art.
All you have to do is show up as you are, follow my lead, and be open to the experience of creating.
This kind of space—where you’re witnessed, held, and encouraged with compassion—is rare. And it’s so needed, especially for those of us who’ve spent too much of our lives over-explaining, people-pleasing, and trying to fit into boxes that were never made for us.
This is your space. For you. About you. And it’s powerful.
